Bio
Sharon
is the host of the syndicated talk show called “What’s
the 411? With Sharon Kay", heard locally on 88.1FM WFSK, at
Fisk University and WBKZ Z-88 in Athens, Georgia.
Kay
began “The 411 Show” at 92Q WQQK, Cumulus Media, Nashville,
over five years ago. The program is “live” on Sunday mornings
now from 7am to 9am & Wednesday’s from 4pm to 6pm. This program
is Kay’s 4th talk show in her career.
Her
media veteran status of 30-years was the right combination for historic
Fisk University to name Sharon General Manager of their radio station
88.1FM WFSK, making her the first female in the station’s 33-year
history to be named GM.
Over
the years, she has broken the color, race, & gender barrier while
in t he media, especially during her start in broadcasting in Topeka, Kansas
in the 1970’s.
Sharon
has been a disc jockey, news anchor, news reporter, talk show host, talk
show producer, writer, photographer, public service and public affairs
director, & account executive in broadcast and print entities which
include radio, television, & newspaper.
Her
multi-media skills have also been used as a contributing writer and photographer
for six-African American newspapers, associate news producer for a television
station, and been on-air at five-radio stations. With a love for news
and information Sharon developed, & served as the editor of her own
internet syndicated news service called “The 411 Show Internet Syndicated
News Service” on her website www.411show.net
Ms.
Kay has won countless awards such as: “Associated Press News Story
of the Year”, “AP News Story of the Week” (14-times),
“Broadcast Journalists of the Year 2004”, “Best Talk
Show Host of Nashville 2004”, “Urban Legend for Community
Engagement also in 2004”, “2005 Best Radio Station Website
(the411show.com)”, and “2005 Best Public Affairs Program for
Your Health Is In Your Hands (Minority Health)”, “2006 Best
College Radio Station – Nashville”.
Sharon
has been the writer for Dr. Bobby Jones Christian talk show on the Word
Cable Television Network called “Let’s Talk Church”,
for three seasons, as well as other freelance writing assignments.
Of
all her accomplishments, her greatest she says “is being mother
to 3-grown children ; Tina, Nicole and LesShaun, and the grandmother to
six grandchildren, 3-boys and 3-girls
